Demonic Activity
Jesus is reported in the Holy Scriptures to have delivered
many people from demons. However, even many Bible
believing Christians find the subject of demonic possession
difficult to address and the liberal Christians (those who
take scripture with a pinch of salt -
shoulder), regard demonic possession with contempt.
Liberals, tend only to be liberal, when the current social
trends resonate with their own preferences.
There is demonic activity occurring all over the world.
It occurs in Cumbria. Indeed, it probably, occurs on
occasions in the Church, when people who are living in
daily sin, find acceptance in a Christian fellowship, who
may, or may not be aware of the daily sinful lifestyle of
such people.
This must not be confused with the sin we repent of, daily.
Christians commit sin and repent of them, however, some
people have turned God’s word upside down and called
sin, love, or convinced themselves that their lifestyles
are acceptable to God, even when it contradicts the
word of God. Such people leave themselves open to
demonic possession.

This is not a subject to be dabbled with.
It is not another box to be ticked off on your theological journey.
Very few people are called to this ministry and when they are, it is because they stand firmly upon the Rock who is the Christ.
God empowers those He calls.
Beware of counterfeit and do not fool yourself.
Indeed, what a prize they are to the forces of evil, to provide a foothold in God’s house for the purposes of the evil one.
However, not all such people will encounter demonic possession. A sinful lifestyle, is not in itself a certain way to attract demonic activity. However, by the law of averages, such a lifestyle practised over many years will certainly increase the chances of demonic possession. It is likely that demonic possession will occur when the subject finds themselves in situations, circumstances, or company, where demonic activity is already present. For instance, prostitution is an obvious conduit for evil spirits to pass from one person to another.
Demonic activity is not restricted to a person and a time. The aftermath of demonic activity, at a moment, or period, in someone’s life can continue throughout their lives,
affecting not only them, but their family, their work colleagues, their friendships and associations.
The results can also pass through the generations.
Do not involve yourself in deliverance ministry unless you know how to put on the full armour of God and you feel led by God, to do so. If you are called, then the Lord will provide the resources you need to accomplish His will. If you are not called, steer clear of it, but pray for those you feel are affected by spirits.
Given that some people, especially in the Pentecostal movement use demonic possession as another tool in their kit to control and abuse people, it is not surprising that the media has a jaundiced view on the subject.
Especially when most ‘respectable’ senior leaders in the Christian church rarely mention the subject, either because they do not understand the subject, or they fear it.
There are some exceptions such as Bishop Graham Dow, the Bishop of Carlisle who has written books and who also preaches on the subject.
Nevertheless, the subject of demonic possession is like a red rag to a bull with many media people. If we have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and are genuine in our belief, then the Holy Spirit dwells within us.
If Christ is in you, then there is no place for evil spirits in you.
However, we can all invite spiritual activity into our lives if we involve ourselves in sin, especially sexual sin, or drug, or alcohol abuse and many other ways.
For those without the protection of the Holy Spirit and especially those involved in any occult craft, the likelihood of demonic activity in their lives, is high.
Much of the horror in our world can be attributed to the demonic possession of an individual.
The caricature of the demon possessed man acting like a lunatic with eyes bulging is dangerously misleading. It suits Lucifer to have people imagine that such is the substance of possession.
The truth however, is that although the caricature is also sometimes a reality, the more likely image of a demon possessed person may be of a normal appearance.
Indeed, it is possible for a spirit to enter and to leave a person when it suits the demon and that person may have no knowledge of what is happening to them other than the results of their behaviour which may, or may not, disturb them.
Then again their behaviour and the results of their behaviour and their normal environment and the people they associate with may be such as to regard what is happening to them as being normal. Some people are so steeped in sin, that their very existence is a continual source of nourishment to the spirits.
A spirit can also possess a person and leave and never return, but that person’s character, personality, behaviour may well have changed for the worst from that time on, unless they are delivered and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
