A wonderful example of what ‘church’ should be about. People ploughing their seed
into God’s kingdom and making ‘Unity’, possible.
Produced to raise up the God given talent who in turn wanted to raise some resources
for the Bound Together magazine that serves all the ‘church’ regardless of the politics
Mostly original songs sung by the writers, who generously gave of their gifts.
Everyone on the album lived in Carlisle or near bye at the time of recording except
for Helen Bainbridge, Linda Steel and Mary and John Hatt who went the extra mile
to get here from Appleby, Dumfries and Maryport.
Some tracks are from other professionally produced albums and others are produced
by a professional who captured a special time for many of us.
It was issued in a tape format, but is available on CD.
A second Unity album may be produced, if someone comes forward with the time and
vision to see it through. I struggled to produce the first one, but I was rewarded
with fun, friends, fellowship and what I regard as a little gem of an album. I didn’t
include any of my own songs to avoid doubting my own motives, but I would now.
A guy called Peter who presented the 3rd issue of Bound Together, way back in AD
1994, used to tell me that “God moves in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform”,
and I know a little of what he meant because when I listen to the ‘Unity’ album now,
the words and melodies that we produced, now speak to me again. I hear them afresh
and God has touched me again.
This site is playing some of the Unity tracks. The song on the home page is Garden
of Delight by Helen Bainbridge and Graeme Young is playing on this page.
